The Sounds Of Home

A poem —

Water splashes as cars drive fast

In the distance, the train horn blasts

At night, birds settle into the trees

and make a ruckus amongst the leaves

The TV teaches cooking tricks

The heater warms our cooler bits

Pipes drop whilst the washing goes

Gate scraps with someone we don’t know
